Attestation Services
Many organizations, including non-profit entities, are required by law to produce some type of formal accounting report for third party review at least once a year. At Hafer Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, we offer three levels of reporting: compilations, reviews, and audits.
A compilation is the minimum level of service that a CPA can provide for a client's financial statement. During a compilation, we will determine that the full disclosure financial statements are reported appropriately based on the information provided to us by management, yet we are not required to verify or corroborate this information.
However, if we become aware that the information supplied by management is incorrect or misleading, the information must be revised or additional information must be obtained.
With a compilation, we do not provide any assurance that the financial statements are materially accurate.
A review is more detailed and comprehensive in scope than a compilation. During a review, we will assure that the full disclosure financial statements are prepared appropriately by asking management questions about the information provided to us and analyzing the data.
If we discover that the information supplied by management is incorrect or misleading, the information must be revised or additional information must be obtained.
With a review, we can provide limited assurance that the financial statements are materially accurate.
An audit meets the most stringent reporting standards and provides the highest level of assurance that an organization’s financial statements are materially accurate.
During an audit, our accountants will perform procedures to assure you that the financial statements are not misleading by analyzing accounting records, physically reviewing them, and corroborating financial information from third parties (such as banks, insurance providers, attorneys, and other third parties we deem necessary).
We will also evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and provide information on the weakness of internal controls, if necessary.
